Velvet Johnstone is a slow, heart led design brand, specialising in bespoke and made to measure wedding attire, as well as made to order magick for anything and everything worth celebrating.

And that’s because I think life is worth celebrating.

Attire Beyond the Traditional

Velvet Johnstone is not limited to bridal dresses alone. I create wedding attire in many forms, designing pieces for all bodies, all genders and all ways of celebrating love. From jumpsuits, separates and non traditional wedding outfits to looks for partners, loved ones and anyone taking part in the day, every piece is crafted with the same care, intention and magick.

Because wedding wear should feel expansive, expressive and deeply personal, just like the love it celebrates.

Velvet Johnstone is not only a culmination of over a decade’s worth of industry experience, but a lifetime’s worth of finding meaning in the moments, both the big and the in between. There is total magick in your muses, your memories and your meanderings, and that is why I feel so blessed to be able to bring these to life in an outfit that makes you not only feel amazing, but most importantly feel like you.

The phrase “made with love” is used a lot, but as a hopeless romantic, I really do craft every piece with loving intent. For the intention of love, for all folks in love.

An Intimate, Ethical and Collaborative Process

One of the best feelings in the world, and I feel a lot, is when my clients get in touch to say they adored their outfit so much that they are wearing it again and again.

The process of making your bridal dress or outfit is so much more than just that. As a small atelier, it is a journey where we can co create the outfit of your dreams in an intimate and relaxed environment.

It also means you can rest assured knowing your outfit has been made as ethically and environmentally friendly as possible. I use sustainable fabrics, combining luxurious plant based and recycled textiles with organic and peace silks, while breathing new life into vintage and dead stock materials that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Giving back to the land, each piece plants eight trees.

And when I’m not at my desk, I manage to be a hopeless romantic in many other ways. On long walks. Admiring beautiful blooming roses. Daily meditation. Working on my allotment. Daydreaming and practising reiki.
