Casey & Ed’s ‘Aisle Of Wright’ Festival Wedding at Delamere Events

When it comes to celebrating love your way, no one does it quite like our MNT community. Casey and Ed’s epic festival-style wedding is evidence of this.
After discovering Make New Traditions (formerly The Un-Wedding) while hunting for non-traditional wedding inspiration, Casey decided to attend one of our wedding fairs, The Un-Wedding Show, in Manchester, and the rest is history.
“I never actually went to any other fairs! I knew that none of them spoke to me and I would’ve felt very imposter-ish and probably uncomfortable anywhere else. Every vendor I spoke with at The Un-Wedding Show I clicked with, and there is just an incredible vibe in the room and such creative buzz in the air where you feel on the same wavelength.”
Through The Un-Wedding Show and our Book of Love Directory, Casey booked several incredible suppliers, including Joy Louise Photography, whose fun, authentic energy matched theirs perfectly.
“The first time we went, we found our photographer - the AMAZING Joy. Not only was her work incredible and the style we wanted, she was also a mint person and we got on like a house on fire. Now, lucky to say we are friends after all this.”
How It All Began
Casey and Ed first met at a house party back in August 2013… (as all the best relationships start)… a fateful night that started with Ed sitting beside Casey (due to a broken femur) and ended with the two swapping numbers. As Casey tells it, “either we had great chat, or he just couldn’t run away!”
Their shared love of travel and live music became the foundation of their relationship. From road-tripping across America and Japan to festival-hopping across the UK, music runs deep in this love story, and their eventual festival-style wedding is a huge testament to that.
“Our biggest hobby together (and where all my wages go/the reason I work really) is to spend all our time at gigs and festivals! It’s such an important thing in our lives, we knew we wanted to incorporate it into our wedding day.”
The couple’s wedding was so personal, and so music centric that Ed’s wedding ring was made from a guitar string from an Iron Maiden concert that the couple has attended the previous year. Talk about NEXT LEVEL meaningful!
The Proposal
In true Casey and Ed style, the proposal was delightfully un-staged and perfectly personal. During a trip to Zante for Casey’s 30th birthday, Ed proposed at sunset on a private beach.
“I’d been moaning about forgetting to put my rings on that evening… Ed sat beside me on the rocks and said, ‘you know how you’ve forgotten your rings… I think I can help with that.’ Smooth!”
Not gonna lie Ed - that was smooth!
The Venue: Delamere Events Tipi, Cheshire
Set beside a serene lake, Delamere Events was the perfect setting for their festival-inspired wedding.
“Ryan and the team are just exceptional. The location and site are an absolute dream… we couldn’t have chosen a better venue for us and the moment we saw it we knew we had to have our big day there!”
For couples planning tipi weddings, Casey recommends Delamere Events for their all-inclusive support — from electricity to décor and even the loos!
Sustainable DIY Wedding Details
Sustainability was woven into every part of their day, from pre-loved décor to handmade signage.
“Quite a few bits of my decor were purchased from sites such as Vinted & eBay or made by myself and Ed… we chose Rosa Gabriella as our florist and they did a mega job making the tipi look even more beautiful with a sustainable and Cheshire touch.”
The Ceremony: Music, Shots & Pure Joy
The couple’s ceremony was led by Louise from Kickass Gatherings who they originally discovered in the Book Of Love Directory.
“For us, there was no other celebrant we could’ve had. Not only does Louise look cool AF but she is such a lovely, vibrant, fun, intelligent person who simply made the whole experience before, during and after so smooth and enjoyable.”
Casey walked down the aisle to an acoustic cover of I Believe in a Thing Called Love, before kicking things off with a shot of sambuca for “Dutch courage.”
They exited as newlyweds to White Wedding or rather, “Wright Wedding” showered in pastel coloured biodegradable confetti.
Festival Vibes, Live Music & Fun
The day flowed effortlessly from ceremony to celebration, with live music, BBQ feasting from and plenty of dancing.
“My dad, sister and Ed stepped to the stage and performed three songs they had sneakily planned together - such a special, iconic and memorable thing to happen.”
This is the level of personalisation we LOVE to see!
Later, Ed’s groomsman took to the drums with his band The Racket, keeping the dancefloor packed with rock anthems late into the night.
Their pink VW campervan photobooth by Birdie & Co, stole the show and provided hours of LOLs and everlasting memories for their guests.
What Wedding Planning Advice would you give to other couples?
“I think THE most important thing about wedding vendors is connection & vibes and I feel advice I would give to anyone is not to choose someone you wouldn’t go for a pint or be mates with!! You HAVE to click with your vendors or you/they won’t have the outcomes/experience you/they wanted!”
Casey and Ed’s wedding is a perfect example of everything MNT stands for - a marriage ceremony that’s about YOU and not what tradition tells you to do!
Casey has been a treasured part of our long-standing community, booking her photographer and other suppliers directly from our Book of Love Directory or live events. It’s an honour to feature their inspirational festival wedding!
