Not Another Wedding Fair. You Deserve More Than That.
Times have changed. Wedding Fairs are dead. Here’s what’s next for modern couples planning their day.
Written by Melissa Woods
We've spent seven years running one of the most popular wedding events in the UK — The Un-Wedding Show. Back in 2019, we changed what a wedding fair could look like. At the time, they were stigmatised as something dull… probably because they were… and something to avoid, especially for our LGBTQ+ friends. So, we made ours curated, vibrant, inclusive, and joyful to attend — a genuine celebration of that talented creatives from our Book Of Love directory who were showcasing their services and wares, and a celebration for our couples too because wedding planning should be fun, right? We proved that couples wanted something more interesting than a hotel conference room, chair covers, and a warm glass of prosecco.
And we were right. They did. And still do.
But something that always happens when you change a market: eventually, everyone catches up. The space that once felt genuinely different starts to feel familiar. What was fresh becomes a format. We’d started to feel it a couple of years ago — that creeping sense that we'd raised the bar, and then watched the bar become the new normal.
If couples still want to attend a local wedding fair they won’t have to look very far. And that’s great. But for those who want something more than a room full of suppliers: Make New Traditions: Live is what comes next.
For Couples Want Something Different
MNT | Make New Traditions (Formerly The Un-Wedding) has always been for couples who want something different. They might not know exactly what they want but they know what they don't want, which is often the more useful starting point. They want a wedding that is modern, stylish, and personal — one that looks like them, feels like an extension of them.
They are not looking for the biggest. They are not looking for the cheapest. They are looking for what feels right.
On Sunday 4 October 2026, Make New Traditions: Live will be making it’s debut at our favourite London venue, Kachette, Old Street, Shoreditch, home to The Un-Wedding Show since 2023 but this one is not a wedding fair.
Formerly, the old railway station in Shoreditch, Kachette is a venue that’s full of stylish character. Exposed brick, beautiful light, the kind of space that makes you feel something when you walk in. If you’re looking for a unique wedding venue in East London, Kachette would be a great fit.
Curation is part of our DNA. We are famed for it. Make New Traditions: Live will be no different but that word gets overused but when we say ‘curated’ we mean it whole heartedly. Every wedding supplier in the room will have been chosen by us. Not because they filled in a form and paid a fee. Because their work is genuinely, properly brilliant, and because they understand how to work with couples who have a clear creative vision. All categories are capped, so there will never be a room full of photographers and nothing else. Balance and variety is important to us without putting bums on seats for the sake of it. Not to be mistaken with large-scale exhibitions, MNT: Live will typically have around 30 of the most creative, independent wedding businesses, as well as engaging panel talks and installations.
Why Is Make New Traditions: Live Different To All The Other Wedding Fairs
Most wedding events are organised around the industry. You walk into a room, visit the stands that interest you, collect information, possibly scope out the venue, and that’s the end of the stroy.
Make New Traditions: Live is organised around you, bringing your wedding planning journey together to experience as a whole moment.
The day is designed in three phases — each one mirroring a natural stage of your journey.
The Engagement :
You've said yes. And the excitement always dies down a little too soon. The first phase of MNT: Live honours that feeling for a little longer. A mini engagement party to celebrate the moment before the planning begins.
The Planning:
This is where the magic happen. Curated suppliers, conversations, and genuine connection with creative humans who you actually want to book. Thoughtful panel talks and workshops to leave you feeling inspired, and empowered instead of overwhelmed.
The Wedding Day:
A fully realised vision of a modern, stylish, wedding day installation to get you as close to that ‘on the day’ feel as possible, before its your turn. Not a mood board. Not a trend report. Something you can walk into, feel, and use as inspiration or a reference point for your own day.
One day. Three phases.
Wedding planning you can actually feel.
